Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Mineral Wells

Mineral Wells came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Windthorst Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Trojans are ranked 991st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mineral Wells to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emery Boswell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Boswell a new career-high in steals (five). Jaylee Newman was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mineral Wells has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Windthorst, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Mineral Wells will be playing in front of their home fans against Brownwood at 5:40 p.m. on Friday. As for Windthorst, they are taking a road trip to face off against Nocona at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
