De Smet Jesuit entered their tilt with St. Louis University on Tuesday with 18 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 19. They put the hurt on the Junior Bills with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in April.

De Smet Jesuit never let St. Louis University on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 25-20.

De Smet Jesuit's offense was headlined by Cole Esparza and Riley Massey, who picked up 13 kills apiece. They got some help from Ryker Whittle and his 33 assists. Evan Strahlendorf controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

De Smet Jesuit's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-1. As for St. Louis University, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

De Smet Jesuit and St. Louis University should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Spartans (ranked first) will meet Christian Brothers (ranked 27th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Louis University will take on Chaminade at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (4 vs. 45).
