Baseball Game Preview: Freeport Yellowjackets vs. Deer Lakes Lancers

For the second straight game, Freeport will face off against Deer Lakes. The Yellowjackets will square off against the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Things were looking good for Freeport after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 12-7 to Deer Lakes. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

For Deer Lakes' part, they let Ben Shurina and Jake Fleischer run wild. Shurina scored a run while going 2-for-5, while Fleischer scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Fleischer has posted since back in April of 2024.

Deer Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Freeport, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
