The Kennedy Thunderbirds fell just short of the Taft Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September.
Kennedy wouldn't go down easily and took Taft into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-15, 19-25, 21-25, 15-11.
Haley Jimenez was a one-man wrecking crew for Taft as she had 14 digs and two aces.
Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Taft, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-12-4 record.
Kennedy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Dinuba at 6:30 p.m. As for Taft, they will face off against Shafter at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Shafter is coming into the contest with seven straight victories at home, so Taft will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
