Baseball Recap: Glendale Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Glendale waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Independence Patriots as they made off with a 15-0 win. Give the Cardinals' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

David Ortiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Alexander Bustamante was incredible, firing off four doubles, two runs, and two RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Miranda, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Glendale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Glendale's record is now 12-6. As for Independence, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Glendale has already played their next contest, a 6-3 victory against Copper Canyon on the 21st. As for Independence, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-6 loss against Sierra Linda on the 21st.
