Football Game Preview: Forney Jackrabbits vs. Rockwall Yellowjackets

Two dominant backs in Javian Osborne and Kaydon Castro are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Forney Jackrabbits will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockwall Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockwall took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Forney, who comes in off a win.

Forney will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Longview, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Jackrabbits managed a 28-24 win over the Lobos on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jackrabbits.

Forney had a senior duo take command as Imari Jehiel picked up 117 receiving yards and one TD and Nelson Peterson Jr. threw for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Peterson Jr.'s passing game has become a key predictor of the Jackrabbits' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Rockwall lost to Longview at home by a 35-21 margin last Friday.

Although Rockwall took the loss, they still got scores from Brent Rickert, Castro, and Ryan Wiley.

Forney's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Rockwall, they dropped their record down to 3-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Forney has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 222.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rockwall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 168.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Forney couldn't quite get it done against Rockwall in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 49-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rickert, who threw for 254 yards and six touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes. Now that the Jackrabbits know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
