Baseball Game Preview: Clyde Bulldogs vs. Comanche Indians

Clyde has gone a perfect 6-0 against Comanche recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Clyde Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Comanche Indians at 10:00 a.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Clyde blew past Coahoma 11-1. That ten run margin sets a new team best for Clyde this season.

Aidan Spurlock made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Clyde let Caden Winters and Ethan Guzman run wild. Winters scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Guzman scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Guzman has posted since back in April of 2024. Sterling Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Clyde always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coahoma only posted an OBP of .300.

Meanwhile, Comanche had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Bruceville-Eddy with a sharp 22-4 victory on Tuesday. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The win made it two in a row for Clyde and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs over those games. As for Comanche, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Everything went Clyde's way against Comanche in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Clyde made off with a 13-6 win. Does Clyde have another victory up their sleeve, or will Comanche turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
