Bentonville West hasn't had much luck against Southside recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolverines will head out to square off against the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bentonville West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arkansas' top teams: Shiloh Christian, who was ranked 21st at the time (Bentonville West was ranked sixth). The Wolverines put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. The Wolverines not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since October 2nd (when they won 3-0).
Bentonville West walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.

Bentonville West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laney Chilton led the charge by getting 15 digs and five assists. That's the most assists Chilton has posted over her last seven matches. Olivia Hamm was another key player, getting 16 assists and six digs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southside, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Northside on Tuesday. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Southside who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 19-25, 25-15, 22-25, 16-14.
Bentonville West's record now sits at 19-9. As for Southside, their record is now 19-7-1.
Everything went Bentonville West's way against Southside in their previous matchup back in September, as Bentonville West made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
