Basketball Game Preview: Central Bearcats vs. Sturgis Trojans

The Central Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Sturgis Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 71 points on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Kalamazoo Central on Thursday. They took a blow against the Maroon Giants, falling 63-17. The game marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Sturgis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 52-37 fall against Paw Paw. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 489th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 91st).

Sturgis' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Central came up short against Sturgis in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, falling 62-58. Can Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
