Baseball Game Preview: Maryvale Flyers vs. Pioneer Panthers

For the second straight game, Maryvale will face off against Pioneer. The Flyers will be playing at home against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maryvale will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Maryvale's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Pioneer by a score of 5-0. The game was the first time the Flyers have beaten the Panthers on their field since May 11, 2022.

Jacob Kuciel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Luke Altieri and Jaxsyn Moritz did most of the damage at the plate: Altieri went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Moritz went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Maryvale's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pioneer, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
