Troy is 0-3 against Mohonasen since April of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Flying Horses will welcome the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Neither Troy nor Mohonasen posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Troy blew Lansingburgh out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Lansingburgh got their revenge. The Flying Horses fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Flying Horses have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Troy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Armstrong, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That hit marked the first that Armstrong has got this season.
Meanwhile, Mohonasen came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Tigers. The two-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Nic Quinlivan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ty Cunningham was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Daniel Corsoro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Mohonasen, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Troy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mohonasen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
