Softball Recap: St. Charles North Beats St. Charles East for Their Fifth Straight Victory

St. Charles North had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the St. Charles East Fighting Saints. That's more bragging rights for the North Stars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Paige Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Julianna Kouba was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Mackenzie Patterson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. Charles North's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Charles East, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Charles North will host Antioch at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Charles East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Naperville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
