Basketball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall lost against KIPP SF College Prep back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marshall Phoenix took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the KIPP SF College Prep Phoenix.

When it comes to explaining why Marshall lost, don't look at Martel Peters. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points along with seven boards and five steals. Peters is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Apollo Hinds, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Marshall's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4. As for KIPP SF College Prep, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on City Arts and Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. KIPP SF College Prep will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Lycee Francais at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
