Basketball Recap: Johnson County Central Falls to Mead in First Game of Season

Johnson County Central kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mead Raiders. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Johnson County Central lost, don't look at Wes Swanson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 13 points and 21 steals. Regan Thies was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miles Kovar, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Kovar a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Derrick Seay, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 15 points.

Johnson County Central has already played their next contest (against Southern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mead also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Cornerstone Christian School.
