Basketball Game Preview: Stevenson Pirates vs. Moreno Valley Vikings

The Stevenson Pirates will take on the Moreno Valley Vikings in a tournament on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Stevenson will head into Saturday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 28) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Palo Verde Valley 57-54.

Meanwhile, Moreno Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over the Seahawks.

Stevenson better keep an eye on Jamall Thompson. He was instrumental in Moreno Valley's win, putting up 18 points. Zyetice Hayes was another key player, posting ten points.

Moreno Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Stevenson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
