Basketball Recap: Merseigne Mingashanga and Donlaray Reese Secure Win for Fort Wayne Northrop

Fort Wayne Northrop lost to Carroll back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins secured a 48-42 W over the Carroll Chargers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Fort Wayne Northrop was led to victory by Donlaray Reese and Merseigne Mingashanga. Reese posted 13 points and seven boards, while Mingashanga went 6-for-9 en route to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Mingashanga a new career-high in points. Mike McCowan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Despite the loss, Carroll still got an impressive performance from Paxton Crane, who went 7-for-8 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Crane is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 55% in the last 15 games he's played. Tyler Morris was another key player, putting up eight points.

Fort Wayne Northrop's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Fort Wayne Northrop and Carroll could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Fort Wayne Northrop (ranked 189th) will meet Warsaw (ranked 23rd) at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Wayne Northrop is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Meanwhile, Carroll will challenge Homestead at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st down 126 places (159 vs. 33).
