Basketball Recap: Kyndall Brewington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cary over Green Hope

Cary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 59-34 to the Green Hope Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Imps can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Falcons are ranked 158th).

Several Imps players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyndall Brewington, who posted six points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. That's the most assists Brewington has posted since back in November of 2024. Jenna Hayes was another key player, putting up seven points.

Abigail Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Green Hope, dropping a double-double with 32 points and ten boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Green Hope's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah George, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and three steals.

Cary's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Green Hope, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Cary has already played their next contest, a 56-44 loss against Panther Creek on the 17th. As for Green Hope, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 78-59 defeat against Holly Springs on the 17th.
