Recap: Socastee Braves vs. Sumter Gamecocks
The Socastee Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Sumter 67-20. Socastee was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-11.
When it comes to explaining why Socastee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anna Reese Pratt. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with three blocks.
Rickell Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sumter, scoring 22 points along with three steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiara Croskey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Socastee has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Sumter, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Socastee will be playing at home against St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. James' defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Socastee's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sumter, they will head out on the road to take on Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
