Game recap: Mallard Creek High School Football Team takes down Vance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - the Mavericks scored 21 points in the second quarter to secure a big 41-0 victory over Vance (Charlotte, N.C.) on Saturday.

Mallard Creek scored on a touchdown catch by Jaylen Samuels, a Lawrence Pittman touchdown run and a touchdown run by Samuels in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a James Smith touchdown pass to Vernon Grier in the first quarter, MC led 28-0 at the half.

The Mavericks grew their lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. Mallard Creek scored two times in the third, including once on a Samuels touchdown run.

With the win MC extended its winning streak to eight games. Mallard Creek defeated Hough 38-21 last week.

The Mavericks went into the matchup giving up only 9.3 points per game.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 31-0 win for Mallard Creek.

The loss comes after Vance defeated West Charlotte 42-6 last week.

Vance (5-3) will play a 4A Conference 5 game against North Mecklenburg next week, while Mallard Creek (8-0) will take on A.L. Brown also in a 4A Conference 5 game.
