Basketball Recap: Flatirons Academy Piles Up the Points Against Kiowa

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Flatirons Academy's strategy against Kiowa on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Flatirons Academy Bison blew the Kiowa Indians out of the water with an 86-13 final score. The Bison have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Brandon Ewing continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8-for-13 on his way to 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Courkamp, who posted 11 points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

Flatirons Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kiowa only five assists.

Despite the defeat, Kiowa had strong showings from Myles Erker, who earned six points, and James Brewer, who put up a point and seven boards.

Flatirons Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points over those games. Kiowa's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Looking ahead, Flatirons Academy will challenge Dayspring Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flatirons Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Kiowa, they will square off against Pikes Peak Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pikes Peak Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
