Softball Recap: Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy Comes Up Short

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-11-1 to make it five. They fell 11-6 to the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars. If Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy was looking for revenge after losing 22-13 to McCook Central/Montrose when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for McCook Central/Montrose, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For McCook Central/Montrose's part, Landry Andal was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Andal has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Deknikker, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

As of now, neither Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy nor McCook Central/Montrose have any future games scheduled.
