Baseball Recap: Northridge Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Northridge's win against Wawasee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

Brody Wood was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Northridge's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Preston Ryan was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Northridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wawasee struck out 11 times.

Northridge pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wawasee, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Looking ahead, Northridge is taking a road trip to challenge Warsaw at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Wawasee, they will welcome Triton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
