Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Abbeville Christian Academy's Winning Streak

After flying high against Wiregrass last Tuesday, Abbeville Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Abbeville Christian Academy Generals took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors on Tuesday. The Generals lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in January of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 80-51 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Abbeville Christian Academy lost, don't look at Jayden Buckhannon. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Buckhannon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jamarcus George, who posted seven points in addition to 12 rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Abbeville Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Abbeville Christian Academy moved to 5-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Southwest Georgia Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-3.

Abbeville Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-40 win against Pataula Charter Academy on the 27th. As for Southwest Georgia Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-42 victory against Terrell Academy on the 20th.
