Baseball Game Preview: Newberry Bulldogs vs. Fairfield Central Griffins

The Newberry Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Fairfield Central Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Newberry's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fox Creek on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Predators: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Fairfield Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Mid-Carolina. Surprisingly, this marked the Griffins' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Fairfield Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Newberry, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Newberry beat Fairfield Central 7-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
