Baseball Recap: Ellwood City Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ellwood City can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mohawk Area Warriors by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Wolverine were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Nathan Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ellwood City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Mills, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Mills' first of the season.

Ellwood City's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Mohawk Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Ellwood City nor Mohawk Area have any future games scheduled.
