Recap: Vicksburg Gators vs. Callaway Chargers

The Vicksburg Gators won the last time they faced the Callaway Chargers, and things went their way on Friday too. Vicksburg took down Callaway 68-54.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Javarian Mallard, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Taylor, who scored six points along with five rebounds.

Vicksburg pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Callaway, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will challenge Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Columbus is ranked 13th, while Vicksburg is ranked 15th). Callaway won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Central Hinds Academy on January 20th.
