Basketball Game Preview: Burton Panthers vs. Iola Bulldogs

Burton is 1-9 against Iola since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Burton Panthers will host the Iola Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Burton lost to Hearne on the road by a 51-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 899th, while the Eagles are ranked 429th).

Meanwhile, Iola came up short against Centerville on Friday and fell 72-65.

Iola has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Burton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Burton beat Iola 48-40 in their previous meeting back in February. Does Burton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Iola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
