The Mountain View Mountain Lions will square off against the Marana Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Mountain View beat Buena 14-9. The Mountain Lions haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Arianna Figueroa made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Danika Stoddard was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Quinonez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Marana came up short against Sabino on Tuesday and fell 11-7.
Marana got a big performance out of Cadence Beck, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelynn Tullous, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Mountain View pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Marana, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Marana struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View came out on top in a nail-biter against Marana in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Marana has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
