The Fordham Prep Rams will challenge the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Wednesday, Fordham Prep made easy work of Regis and carried off a 9-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Derek Soroa made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four matches. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Miguel Reich was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jack McKillop was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Nicholas Zarski looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea got a big performance out of Gioacchino Bonsangue, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Paul Cilmi, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Fordham Prep, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fordham Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph-by-the-Sea struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
