Elko had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their defense stepped up to hand the Douglas Tigers a 21-0 shutout. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Douglas dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elko will face off against Fernley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Douglas, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sutter at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
