Football Recap: Elko Starts Season with Win Against Douglas + How To Watch

Elko had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their defense stepped up to hand the Douglas Tigers a 21-0 shutout on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Ethan Kraintz was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 110 yards and one TD, and also threw for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Elko didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Coy Jones and Alan Campos. Campos has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 11 times he's played.

Douglas dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elko will venture away from home to face off against Fernley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Indians' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Douglas, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sutter at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
