Softball Recap: Lockhart Gets the Win

Lockhart picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Sinton Pirates.

Lilliana Villarreal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed eight innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordann Deutsch, who earned one RBI, three runs, and three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Araiza, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Lockhart's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Sinton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Lockhart will square off against Ray at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Sinton, they will challenge Raymondville at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearkats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.83 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
