Leyden won the last time they faced Berwyn/Cicero Morton and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 5-2.

Abigail Cortez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carmen Richardson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Elise Bertsche was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Leyden's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Looking ahead, Leyden will take on Proviso East at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
