Basketball Game Preview: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Mahanoy Area Golden Bears

Minersville is 2-8 against Mahanoy Area since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Minersville Battlin' Miners will host the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Shazier Bethea and Tanner Zawada.

Last Tuesday, Minersville came up short against Pottsville and fell 54-44.

Meanwhile, Mahanoy Area put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past North Schuylkill 58-32. The Golden Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mahanoy Area's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.8 points. As for Minersville, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-3.
