Basketball Game Preview: South Atlanta Hornets vs. Therrell Panthers

The South Atlanta Hornets will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Therrell Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Atlanta has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Saturday, South Atlanta made easy work of Carver and carried off a 67-42 win. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Panthers are ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Atlanta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaelin Ellis, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Ellis has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Bol Deng, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Therrell's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The contest between them and KIPP Atlanta Collegiate didn't end well, with Therrell falling 67-53.

South Atlanta's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Therrell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

South Atlanta beat Therrell 64-56 when the teams last played back in January. Will South Atlanta repeat their success, or does Therrell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
