Softball Recap: Algonac Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Algonac took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Dakota, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Muskrats skirted past the Cougars 6-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Muskrats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Anna Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Murray, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Michael Kenel was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Algonac's record is now 8-6. As for Dakota, they moved to 7-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Algonac will take on North Branch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Broncos have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Dakota, they will challenge Chippewa Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
