Basketball Recap: Creede Takes a Loss

Creede lost against Centennial back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Creede Miners were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to the Centennial Rams.

When it comes to explaining why Creede lost, don't look at Jaxson Fazio. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Fazio is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was William Keeran, who scored two points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Creede smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Centennial can attribute much of their success to Zach Jacquez, who put up ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. What's more, Jacquez also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Jeremy Sandoval was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Creede's record now sits at 6-12. As for Centennial, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Creede wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-23 victory against Lake City Community on the 21st. As for Centennial, they have also already played their next game, an 83-33 loss against Primero on the 20th.
