Recap: Burbank Titans vs. Central Catholic Raiders

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Burbank Titans ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 60-55 W over Central Catholic. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Michael Butcher continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-6 from deep and dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cedric Sydnor, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Central Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Magana, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Manjot Mann was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.

The victory (which was Burbank's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. As for Central Catholic, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Burbank won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Christian Brothers at 7:30 p.m. on December 9th. One thing working in Christian Brothers' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. Central Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ripon Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Ripon Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game.
