Softball Game Preview: Tahquitz Titans vs. Elsinore Tigers

The Tahquitz Titans will square off against the Elsinore Tigers at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Tahquitz is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Friday just wasn't the day for Tahquitz's offense. They came up short against Temescal Canyon on Friday, falling 17-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, Tahquitz's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Elsinore hadn't done well against San Jacinto recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Elsinore put the hurt on San Jacinto with a sharp 14-6 victory. The result was nothing new for Elsinore, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Breann Lipold was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (four). Another player making a difference was Payton LaRouche, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Elsinore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jacinto only posted a batting average of .214.

Elsinore pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tahquitz, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tahquitz hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Elsinore struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Tahquitz might still be hurting after the 21-0 defeat they got from Elsinore in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
