St. Pius X waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Howell Central Spartans. The Lancers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

St. Pius X easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-19.

Kate Sherry paced St. Pius X's offense, picking up 12 kills. Sherry got some help from Elena Ruble and her 20 assists. Caitlyn McNail controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

St. Pius X's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Howell Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, St. Pius X and Howell Central will both be playing Lafayette the next time they take the court. The Lancers will head out to face the Lancers at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
