Softball Recap: Central Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Central dropped their record down to 6-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They lost 18-7 to the Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.

For Philadelphia Academy Charter's part, Ava Gerace made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up seven earned runs off three hits. Gerace has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Milana Romero was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Bridget Donaghy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
