1. Iowa City West
Head coach: Steve Bergman
2014-15 record: 25-1

The Trojans have a chance to be really special this season. Fifteen different players logged varsity minutes in 2014-15 and 14 are back. University of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery has two sons expected to contribute in Connor McCaffery (6-5, Jr., G) and Patrick McCaffery (6-3, Fr., G). Connor was an all-state selection as a sophomore after putting up 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. But the McCaffery brothers are just the tip of the iceberg for West. Devontae Lane (6-0, Jr., G), Tanner Lohaus (6-6, Sr., F) and Wali Parks (6-4, Sr., F) are all potential Division I talents that averaged over 10 points per game last season.

2. Linn-Mar (Marion)
Head coach: Chris Robertson
2014-15 record: 18-5

Jordan Bohannon (6-0, Sr., G) is the fourth Bohannon brother to star at Linn-Mar. Committed to Iowa, Jordan averaged 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game during an all-state junior year. Beau Klostermann (6-4, Sr., G/F) is another big contributor back from 2014-15.

3. Pleasant Valley
Head coach: Steve Hillman
2014-15 record: 24-3

After reaching the 4A state championship game last March, the Spartans return five players 6-foot-4 or taller. That group includes William Carius (6-6, Sr., F), who was a first team all-state selection as a junior after posting over 17 points and eight rebounds per game.

4. Wahlert (Dubuque)
Head coach: Tom English
2014-15 record: 18-8

Beastly forward Cordell Pemsl (6-6, Sr.) is back and that might be enough to give Wahlert a great shot to repeat in Class 3A. Pemsl, an Iowa Hawkeyes commit, earned 3A POY honors as a junior despite battling through injuries.

5. Spirit Lake
Head coach: Nathan Loenser
2014-15 record: 21-4

Le Mars and Western Christian handed Spirit Lake all four of its losses a year ago. If the Indians can get over those hurdles, they could be a threat in 3A. Leading the way will be 6-10, 245-pound Iowa commit Ryan Kriener – an all-state selection last season – and North Dakota pledge Billy Brown (6-3, Sr., G).
