Basketball Recap: Astoria/VIT Comes Up Short

Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Midwest Central Raiders.

Despite the defeat, Astoria/VIT saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Preslea Parker posted 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Dixie Chenoweth, who earned ten points.

Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will welcome Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Midwest Central, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 7:00 p.m. on January 28, 2025.
