Recap: John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles vs. Aquinas Knights

Even though the Aquinas Knights scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles still came out on top. The stars were shining brightly for John F. Kennedy Catholic in a 75-60 win over Aquinas. Given John F. Kennedy Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Aquinas is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Michael Condoleon, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Those 30 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nick Ryan, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bronson Gilyard. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with six rebounds. The match was Gilyard's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jeante Brown was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Aquinas were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John F. Kennedy Catholic only racked up 22 assists.

John F. Kennedy Catholic's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Aquinas, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John F. Kennedy Catholic will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Boardman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
