Softball Recap: Seattle Prep Comes Up Short

If Seattle Prep was feeling good fresh off their 30-10 takedown of Chief Sealth on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ballard Beavers on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 18, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Hayden Downer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Lucy Allen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Seattle Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Ballard, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Seattle Prep is set to take on their familiar foe Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ballard will square off against rival Eastside Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
