Football Game Preview: Randleman Tigers vs. Montgomery Central Timberwolves

Randleman has won three straight games at home, while Montgomery Central has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Tigers will host the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Randleman's win against Lexington Senior wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Yellowjackets 21-19.

John Kirkpatrick had an outrageously good game as he threw for 284 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 61 yards and one TD. Those 61 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montgomery Central). They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat High Point Central 55-0. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Montgomery Central, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zach Stancil, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Montgomery Central now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Randleman, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Randleman against Montgomery Central when the teams last played back in September of 2022, as the squad secured a 47-7 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Timberwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
