Marshall has gone 9-1 against El Monte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will challenge the Lions at 3:15 p.m. Marshall's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so El Monte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Friday just wasn't the day for Marshall's offense. They fell just short of Arroyo by a score of 2-0 on Friday.

Michael Gerst was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Marshall saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Lain, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, El Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 36th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 6-0 to Mountain View.

Marshall has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-6-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for El Monte, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Marshall took their win against El Monte in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
