Baseball Recap: Lone Oak's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak at Home

After only two runs in their last matchup, Lone Oak made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cumby on Thursday. The Lone Oak Buffaloes put the hurt on the Cumby Trojans with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Buffaloes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Cason McBride spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Clayton Wallace and Moises Perez did most of the damage at the plate: Wallace scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Perez scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Wallace a new career-high in RBI (three). Kallan Patterson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Lone Oak hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cumby struck out eight times.

Lone Oak's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for Cumby, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Lone Oak will host Miller Grove at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cumby, they will take on Quitman in a tournament on Friday.
