Basketball Recap: Kent Denver Sun Devils vs. DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors
Even though the DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors scored an imposing 69 points on Thursday, the Kent Denver Sun Devils still came out on top. Kent Denver came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raptors and snuck past 72-69. Given Kent Denver's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Raptors are ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kent Denver found their leader in underclassman Caleb Fay, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Fay is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Lukkes, who scored nine points.
When it comes to explaining why DSST: Green Valley Ranch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jovonnie Babineaux. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points. Another player making a difference was Tong Bot, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Kent Denver's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for DSST: Green Valley Ranch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
