Recap: Natalia Mustangs vs. Lytle Pirates
The Natalia Mustangs fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Lytle Pirates on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Pirates 76-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (66), Natalia still had to take the loss.
Lytle was led to victory by Chase Guevara and Seth Pierce. Guevara scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Pierce dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pierce has scored all season. Jayden Perez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Natalia's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Lytle, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 20-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Natalia's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Crystal City at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Crystal City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Natalia likes a good challenge. As for Lytle, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cotulla at 7:30 p.m. Cotulla is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
